Guest Blog with Georgeann Swiger

Welcome to this week's guest blogger, Georgeann Swiger! She's the author of the Trinity of Souls series, of which I will be reading this weekend (hooray for binging!)

Today, she's tackling the theme I've been waxing poetic about all week - the idea of trusting others. Check it out!

A Letter to Disgruntled Authors

When I first started writing, I was Suzy Sunshine, a chaser of dreams and a believer in the goodness of people. I trusted anyone who whispered lovely thoughts in my ear about how they could help me build a successful career as an author.

The problem with being Suzy Sunshine is when you’re surrounded by unicorns, rainbows and flowers you can become blind to what’s really going on around you. I learned this firsthand when the publisher of my debut novel closed up shop without paying me a dime, turning good old Suzy into

Unfortunately, tales of authors being taken advantage of aren’t new. After what happened to me, I began hearing more and more stories about publishers not paying authors. Needless to say, my trust in people dipped to a record low.

After some soul searching, I realized being bitter and suspicious of everyone was no way to live. I couldn’t wallow in anger and negativity for the rest of my life. There was no benefit.

Admittedly, shedding the big ball of grumpiness hasn’t been easy. In fact, there’s still a little bit of grumpiness and mistrust in me. It comes out when I hear new stories of writers not being paid or when a friend’s bank account is wiped clean by a cyber-thief or a scammer calls my house trying to gain access to my personal information. Seriously, there are some B-A-D people out there looking to steal your money, hard work and good name.

For those of you who have been taken advantage of or swindled by a thief, I want you to know you’re not alone and not everyone in this world is out to get you. It happens to the best of us.

Even though I’m no longer the ever-so-trusting Suzy, I refuse to allow crooks, scammers and haters take away my trust in everyone. I constantly remind myself there are good people in this world. In fact, I’ve surrounded myself with them. I have a hefty list of writer friends who encourage me to write, a small group of fans asking about my books, and a family that supports me in everything I do.
I encourage you to find a support systems too because by clinging to the good, your focus is on better, more positive things like writing your next book.

When seventeen-year-old Anya finds out she’s going to become an angel, the rules about right and wrong change. Micah, the angelic soldier ordered to protect Anya, is determined to keep her pure for the transition from human to angel. Unwittingly, Micah becomes Anya’s greatest threat when she begins falling for her protector, a love that’s forbidden in heaven.

What would you do if the only things standing between you and the angel you love were another angel and the fiery pits of Hell?

When Anya and Micah declare their love for each other, the battle for the souls of the star-crossed angels stretches across the heavens. With Heaven forbidding their love, Micah vows to protect Anya by sentencing himself to Hell.
