Welcome Author Teshelle Combs

Join me in welcoming our fourteenth (ALMOST DONE) Fall for the Indie Book author, Teshelle Combs! /S.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Young Tess, stop wasting your time worrying about whether you’re beautiful or not. You’re beautiful, babe. You really are. Now believe that and use the time you spent denying it to write.

Welcome Author Emissa Ghaight

Welcome to our thirteenth Fall for the Indie Book Author, Emissa Ghaight! Check out her Monday Blogs interview below:

Why did you write your book?

There were several themes I wanted to explore in the book, and they all had this theme of loyalty around them, and that's how I chose the title, "The Loyalty Factor." The first was the notion of the loyalty in the marriage relationship, where you have a heteronormative married couple who, all of the sudden, not only does he find himself transformed into a woman, but now they're a lesbian couple. How do those original vows they took when they got married still apply? What if this were to happen to, say, a conservative Christian couple who abhors homosexuality? How far do you go to keep those promises you kept to each other?

Welcome Author J. Leigh Bralick

I'm excited to welcome our next Fall for the Indie Book Author, J. Leigh Bralick (aka Jen). The Madness Project is up there as one of my hands-down FAVORITE books of this year (yeah, yeah, I read it already).

Some of us our eagerly awaiting book 2 there, Bralick... /S.

1. THE MADNESS PROJECT...in Doctor Who Gifs!

First of all, there's a boy. His name is Tarik, and he's the Crown Prince in a world that despises magic and chases endlessly after science.

Thing is, he has a secret he's kept hidden his whole life. He's a mage, and he can change what he looks like.

Welcome Author Melissa Petreshock!

Melissa is 1/2 of the Sassy Sisters who were kind enough to include me in their Summer Block Party Giveaway. I have to say, I can't wait to crack open Melissa's book to see what the fuss is about. But in the meantime, +2 to her for answering the .GIF question. /S.

Describe your book in gifs

It starts because King Corrin is generally kind of like this...

Welcome Author Gina West!

Be completely honest: how much of your main character is really you?

A LOT of Twilah is me. Stubborn. Check. Determined. Check. Self-sufficient. Check. And she tries to pretend she’s a hard ass, but she’s really a big softy. Double check.

What do you tell yourself before you start writing?

Usually it’s something like “quit reading Facebook and get to work!” Once that shiznizzle is taken care of, I’ll spend some time planning the scene I want to write and then get down to business. I once read some advice suggesting that when you stop writing for the day, you should plan what you need to write the next day. That way, the blank space after that last period isn’t so intimidating. I use that guideline as much as possible.

Welcome author Sarah Jane Avory

And a fine welcome to a Spooooooooky Author writing a Witch book (did not intend for this when I scheduled all this in August!). Give a Fall for the Indie Book welcome to Sarah Jane Avory! /S.

Hi, I’m Sarah Jane Avory. I was born in Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK.

I’ve been writing for a long time, ever since I bought my first home computer. I’m a self-taught writer. Okay, I’ve had a little help from some how-to-write books I own. Oh, and not forgetting the internet of course! But I enjoy programming, and it has been a wonderful career for me. Today I’m married, I have a great job, a beautiful black long-haired cat, and my own house. My long-term goal is to one day be able to write full-time. One can dream, yes..?

Welcome Author Allie Walker

Welcome to our next #FallfortheInideBook Author, Allie Walker! Allie's a powerhouse of a marketer, and a daily inspiration to me to get my ass in gear and do more so I can catch up. So thrilled to have her as my guest this week! /S.

How much of your main character is really you?

I put so much into writing On My Way Home.  It was a very personal experience.  I think if you know me personally you certainly pick out similarities between myself and Gabriella.  We are both independent, we both think that we know everything, we are both stubborn, and we both had to grow up fairly quickly.  We both have also had to encounter our fair share of “Danielle Dickerts in our lifetimes.”

Welcome author Aoife Marie Sheridan!

I'm super stoked to highlight Aoife this week. She's the tireless force behind the Goodreads Paranormal (etc) group that highlights a new author every week. So I thought, well why don't I highlight HER for a week?

Be completely honest: how much of your main character is really you?

Not much. Abigail was one of the most complex characters I wrote. Her shyness would definitely be me, and sometimes the way she phrases things, but overall she is just a character. Because she has a drink problem and suffered so much as a child I had to really sit down and think about the person she is and how her suffering would shape her.

Welcome Author Jake Keet!

I'm actually kind of excited about this week's author. Jake and I graduated high school together (Go Dolphins!) all of ten years ago, and I have always found him to be a witty and hilarious person. Fast forward to this year, when I find he too has published a book! So, of course, he had to join my blogstravaganza! /S.

Fill in the blank:

If you like Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb, you'll love my book.

Welcome Author Katie L. Carroll!

We are 1/3rd of the way through this crazy freight train! This week, we're highlighting author Katie L. Carroll who write the young adult fantasy novel Elixir Bound. The book itself is an homage to Katie's sister, and just this whole interview about made me cry in my coffee. So totally go read it. /S.

Fill in the blank: If you like ________, you'll love my book.

If you like Kristin’s Cashore’s GRACELING, you'll love my book.

Welcome Author Deirdre Riordan Hall!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to our fourth #FallfortheIndieBook2014 author Dierdre Riordan Hall! She's one of my #NALitChat friends that I've made on Twitter.

Deirdre has a series called "Follow Your Bliss," a fantastic new adult series. The second book, In the Desert, was released in June of this year, and that is the focus of today's post! I'll be posting my review at the end of the week; in the meantime, learn more about Dierdre below.

Welcome Author Erin Rhew!

This week's author of the week is Erin Rhew!

--

Look to your left, what's there?

It’s a “who,” not a “what” in this case. It’s the love of my life, Jay Scott (pen name: Deek Rhew).

How long ago did you finish eating it?

Eating what? The “who” to my left? Ummm…no comment. LOL!

Monday, September 8, 2014

Welcome Author Heather Letto!

My next victim author of the week is the impervious Heather Letto, who wrote a book called Impervious (see what I did there...). She's got the steering wheel this week, while I go have myself a drink... /S.

---

Well, Hellooooo and happy Monday!  I’m really, really (um, did I mention, really?) excited (and honored, dude! Totally honored!) to be included in the Fall for the Indie Book lineup!

“S”, you are DA BOMB…. (can I call you, “S” or should we just keep it Ms. Evans?)

Welcome Author Renee N. Meland!

Welcome to the very first post of the fifteen week odyssey called #FallfortheIndieBook2014! From now until December 14th, this blog will be taken over by some of the most talented and awesome Independent and Small Press authors that I can find.

Our first author-of-the-week is Renee N. Meland! You've seen Renee before on my blog, but now she's got all the control! Today, she's on the hook to answer my inane questions about her book. Tomorrow - she'll be sharing with us all of her social media links. - S. Usher Evans

Your main character is stuck on an island. What 3 things do they bring? How long do they survive?

Cain is a pretty darn resourceful guy. He'd bring his knives (items one and two) and a book, and he'd have his own little compound running like a well-oiled machine within a week.
