Book Spotlight - Faery Marked by Mary Waibel

Hey you guys, my dear friend +Mary Waibel is back on the blog for a brand new feature - Friday Book Spotlight! Basically, it's my opportunity to showcase another indie author's book, without having to tie it to a review (although I will be reading this book this weekend)

Click on the cover to nab the book at Amazon, or check out Mary's interview below:

Describe your book in gifs

Fill in the blank:

If you like Fairies/Fae/Maigc, you'll love my book.

Your main character is stuck on an island. What 3 things do they bring?

An e-reader stocked with her favorite paranormal/fantasy/mythology reads, her Guardian (like he’d let her go without him!), and company: her brother and her BFF (I know, that’s cheating, but she couldn’t decide between the two of them!) Anything else she needed, she’d use her magic to get :-)

How long do they survive?

She could survive there forever, as long as her magic didn’t give out.

Be completely honest: how much of your main character is really you?

There are definitely some bits and pieces. I’d say at least 10%

Also be honest - how much of your villain is based on a real person?

Actually, the villains in this story are completely made up.

Why did you choose to go indie?

I’m actually a mixed author. I have books with 2 small presses (Princess of Valendria Series with MuseItUp Publishing, and The Faery series with BookFish Books) and I released a novella on my own last June. I did the self-publishing thing so I could learn more of the behind the scenes things that go on with formatting the e-book, print book, and audio book.

What is your favorite book? In what genre?

Honestly, I can’t pick just one, so I’ll give a few top favorites. Anything by Jennifer Armentrout. While I haven’t read all she’s written, I’ve loved what I have read. Same for Nora Roberts. Up and comers? Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie. If you love horror, check these guys out. (Trisha also writes YA Contemporary that are so full of feels!) Becky Wallace has a YA Fantasy coming out in March that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Nicole Castroman has an amazing YA Historical piece releasing in 2016. I could go on, but I’ll stop there for now.

What advice would you give to other writers?

Keep reading. Anything you can. Study it to see what works and what doesn’t. And write. If you don’t write it, you can’t tweak it to make it better.

Where can I get your book?
